Creating glowing skin on your face

One of the most important elements of looking and feeling amazing, healthy and glowing is your face.

Women today are lucky to have stores piling with products to treat and cover almost anything and so there is no reason for us to look unkempt. Whether you are at home or out and about, nobody, not even your mother or you looking at yourself in the mirror, should see you looking unkempt. After waking up, brush your teeth, do your morning routine, shower and get dressed (comfortable is fine, baggy and shabby is not) and arrange you hair (comb/ brush it, put it in a bun, ponytail etc.). You should always look pretty and put together.

A person's face is usually the first thing anyone sees when they look at someone. The face is your business card and you need to give the right impression. Before you put anything on your face, you should make sure that the foundation is right. By foundation I mean the health of the skin. If you have blemishes, dry skin, oily skin or any other problems with the skin on your face, tackle the problems first before you put anything else on your face.  If you have access to a dermatologist go to one if not, do plenty of research and become an expert on your skin (Even if you have a dermatologist, it's still a good idea to be your own expert). There are plenty of products out there, but what has worked wonders for my family and I have been things in our own kitchen. Try these methods at your own risk. I am not a trained dermatologist, the following tips have worked for me or someone I know.

Day to day skin care

To clean the face, a friend of mine follows the following steps:

  • She begins by cleansing her face with soap (soap is usually too harsh so I suggest finding a gentle face wash that works for you);
  • After the cleansing, she rinses the soap of with plenty of water:
  • After the rinsing, she tones her face with a mixture of diluted apple cider vinegar (the ratio that works for her is 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar in a cup of water. Experiment with your mixture until you find a ratio that works for you). She uses it by dabbing her face with a ball of cotton drenched with the mixture.
  • She then does a final rinse with water and rubs 1- 2 drops of her favorite oil (avocado, olive, coconut etc.) into her wet face. After 5 minutes the oils is absorbed into her skin and she's ready to go.
  • In the summer, she does add a facial sunblock after her skin has absorbed the oil.
Since following the steps above, she no longer has pimples, blackheads, a T-zone or any other skin problem. Her face is always soft and glowing.
Another method that some of my friends have seen success with is the oil cleansing method. (crunchy betty has a wonderful post on the subject).

I am lucky that all I have to do with my skin is use a face wash and whatever lotion i'm putting on my body on my face.

After your face is clean and clear you have 3 choices, no make-up, a touch of make-up and full on make-up. If you decide to go for the full on look, make sure that you do not look like you put on 4 layers of everything. Covering your face with make-up is fine as long as you know how to do it well. Blend and combine the make-up colors correctly and make sure that the total complements you face and your outfit. You do not need make-up to be beautiful so try and go without it for a day and see how it works.
